Scotland has a rich history of philanthropy. The rich history and many success stories show the positive impact that philanthropy has played in Scotland’s social development during the last 150 years. According to CAF’s Scotland Giving report from 2017, £813m was donated to charity by those living in Scotland in 2016 and generous and well-informed philanthropists in the area have played a great part in developing a sense of pride and rich heritage. This rich heritage of innovation continues to the present day with a new generation of philanthropists engaged in programmes in many areas. Philanthropy and social investment will continue to play an important role in funding programmes that previously were funded by the government.

This event will explore the progress in Scotland and will look at how we can continue to develop philanthropy and inspire it to be better. The panel will explore how philanthropy can be inspired and encouraged among all age groups and how we can incorporate new innovative ideas.

The panel will also discuss the important role professional advisers can play in increasing philanthropic giving and how we can involve a larger number of advisers in the process.

As Philanthropy Impact’s extensive market research revealed, UHNWIs who have support from their advisers give 17 times more than those without that support. The research indicates professional advisers can play a key role in increasing giving and by doing so can also take advantage of a commercial opportunity. The evening will end with a networking reception.
