Corporate giving rises slightly in the US

News

A Chronicle of Philanthropy survey indicates that corporate America’s donations rose by a median of 6% in 2006, to $3.8 billion. Steady growth in the economy last year helped the nation's largest corporate donors increase their giving, according to a new Chronicle survey. However, the increase fell short of last year's growth of 10%.

Of the 75 companies that estimated how much they would donate to charity during 2007, 28 said their philanthropy would grow by more than 3%. Thirty-nine said their giving would remain roughly the same as last year, and eight said it would decline. To read more of the survey results click here.
