Walk in My shoes - Episode 37
In the last 10 years there has been a visible shift in the understanding of impact within international aid, and the role of the intermediary INGO and funders. Since the events of 2020, calls for reform of the humanitarian aid and international development system are growing even more rapidly. There are increasingly urgent calls for authentic engagement with real world issues: a new model for humanitarian aid that puts systemic change, local culture, and community at its centre, a model that is being framed as the decolonisation of aid.
In this discussion we will hear from two leaders in this field, exploring what guidance and learning there is for philanthropists, funders and NGO’s. We will be asking why it is important to encourage constructive dialogue and collaboration around this concept, and how this can be done? What is the role of the intermediary INGO and the role of the funders in ensuring long-term sustainable change at grass roots level?
Panel: Dr Dhananjayan (Danny) Sriskandarajah, CEO, Oxfam GB; Lucy S. Blythe, Founder, Phila International; Eva Rehse, Executive Director, Global Greengrants Fund UK.
