The Big Give raises £3m in two hours and is set to smash £6m target
The Big Give raised £3m in two hours on Monday for its five-day match funding campaign that aims to raise £6m for UK charities.
The ‘Double your donation’ scheme looks set to surpass this target as Philanthropy UK goes to print on Thursday. Jon Brooks, managing director of The Big Give, said they expect to raise a total of £7.5m for 175 charities by Friday 11th December.
The Reed Foundation is providing £1.5m and charity trustees and major donors over £2m in match funding that could double the amount donated online to the projected £7.5m total.
Brooks, said, “The take-up has been fantastic. We raised £3m in two hours on Monday, which shows how popular the match funding is with donors looking to make their money go further for the charities they care about.”
The Big Give ran its first match funding challenge last year, raising £2m in 45 minutes, with an average donation of £1,400.
