An essential introduction to the world of ‘film-anthropy’ this seminar will explore how funders can harness the power of film and related social action campaigns to create positive change in the world.

Finding inspiration from films like An Inconvenient Truth and Black Gold, the lunchtime seminar will provide an opportunity to find out about communicating funders’ issues through documentary film.

It is presented by Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation and the Association of Charitable Foundations and directors from the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation will screen clips of films they have funded and outline the impact they have had on policy and behaviour.

Two organisations from the United States, where this way of engaging new audiences with social issues is more advanced, will join the seminar.

Diana Barrett, director of grants at the Fledgling Fund, will join the seminar by video-conference and will talk about Fledgling’s experience of funding both documentary films and social action campaigns to increase the real world impact and reach of  film.

The seminar will also be joined by Robert West, director of Working Films, an organisation that specialises in bringing third sector partners together to build a social action campaign around documentary films.

This seminar is open to funders only.
