Impetus has announced its ninth investment in IntoUniversity, a charity dedicated to supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to aspire to and achieve a university place.

Set up in 2002 as a project based in a North Kensington Community Centre the initial scheme, which targets children from 8 through to 18 who come from backgrounds with no prior history of higher education, reached 75 school children Five years on the scheme now reaches 850 young people on site and a further 1500 each year via school based work. More than 60 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have gone to university as a result of support from IntoUniversity.

Impetus is also backing an ambitious growth plan which will see IntoUniversity expand from one centre to six over the next three and a half years, and is leading a group of investors who together have committed £500,000 strategic funding to underpin the growth.
