An informal working group has been established to explore the economic justification for Lifetime Legacies, within the context of broader government fiscal policy and objectives for supporting the Third Sector.

The group, set up and chaired by HM Treasury, met for the first time this week. The group is comprised of a consortium of third sector organisations, including Philanthropy UK, and government officials.

The development follows a meeting in July on Lifetime Legacies which was attended by the Culture Minister and the Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

The next meeting is planned for early in the new year.
