Philanthropy UK goes ‘inside’ donor advice sector

News (UK)

Philanthropy UK’s September 2009 Newsletter, to be published the week of 21st September, offers a special report on the new generation of professional advisors offering to help donors give more strategically and effectively.

With commentary and opinion from a panel of leading practitioners the survey discovers the services they offer, the value they deliver philanthropists and the questions donors should ask themselves and advisors before taking advice.

According to Ceris Gardner, partner of Maurice Turnor Gardner (MTG), a new law firm offering international wealth management solutions including philanthropy advice, “A new generation of philanthropists is emerging, anxious to see visible change and push the boundaries in charitable giving. This has created a role for a new generation of creative and innovative professional advice.”

Philanthropy UK offers insight on the benefits and pitfalls of taking advice and the opportunities and challenges for those operating in this developing market.

The newsletter also features an ‘at a glance’ guide, allowing donors to compare the advisory services on offer. Melissa Berman, CEO and President of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, gives her candid view of the issues facing the US market in her 'Letter from America' and considers next steps.

Also Matthew Bowcock, chair of the Community Foundation Network, talks about his inspirational story in 'My philanthropic journey', and Robert Dufton, director of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, reveals the books that have shaped his philanthropy in ‘Influential reading.’
