The Next Gen and the Arts: A New Approach to Effective Giving

Beacon Collaborative’s 2021 report on young givers found that the future wealthy feel that the arts and culture are ‘sponsored by those with a lot more wealth than them or driven by passion that they don’t have.’ As we enter a period of historic wealth transfer, this exceptional evening offers an opportunity to explore how we can build a culture of giving to the arts that resonates with the next generation of philanthropists.

Emerging and experienced philanthropists Jonathan Quin (Q Charitable Trust) will discuss their experiences of giving effectively to the arts, and leading advisor to wealthy individuals and families Maya Prabhu (JP Morgan Private Bank) will share her experience of engaging new generations and advising them in effective giving in the evolving landscape of philanthropy. From venture philanthropy to new communication styles, we will delve into the strategies shaping the future of charitable giving.

This event offers valuable insights from key thought leaders and an opportunity to network with peers across the arts, philanthropy, and advisory sectors. To make this an unforgettable experience, attendees will enjoy an exclusive complimentary performance of Benjamin Britten’s music drama The Burning Fiery Furnace in the Susie Sainsbury Theatre—a unique blend of learning, culture, and connection.

What we will explore:

• What attracts new donors to the arts and strengthens their commitment? Key strategies for donors and arts organisations to work together in a changing world.

• What can new donors to the arts learn from donors with decades of experience? Why is knowledge transfer between generations important for effective giving?

• How can organisations and advisors collaborate to support effective giving? The role of advisors in guiding impactful and long-term philanthropy.

• Why invest in the arts? Exploring the value of the arts in modern philanthropy and its role in shaping culture and society.

Why Attend:
Be part of a one-of-a-kind event that combines thought-provoking discussion with the beauty of live performance. Gain fresh insights into donor partnerships, connect with key players in the philanthropic and cultural sectors, and experience an evening that blends the best of education, networking, and the arts — all in one iconic venue.
