UK Community Foundation Report: Connecting Care

Connecting Care is a collection of case studies from community foundations partnering with care leavers, support organisations and local authorities as part of our national Care Leavers Programme. I hope you’ll agree this is a great example of national funders, charities, local businesses and local authorities coming together for care leavers, with match funding, flexibility, collaboration and a multi-year approach at its core.

A year into the programme (which was seed funded by the Local Authorities’ Mutual Investment Trust (LAMIT), a shareholder of CCLA), 17 participating community foundations from UKCF have so far supported more than 2,000 care leavers aged between 16 and 25 years old by funding 59 organisations and 411 individuals directly. With a new donation (announced yesterday) from the Henry Smith Foundation, the original £3 million match-fund initiative will increase to £7 million over the next four years, extending into 14 new areas in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
