CAPS Report: Family Philanthropy In Asia

CAPS are delighted to announce the launch of a new report on family philanthropy. The significance of family in Asian philanthropy hardly needs to be emphasized, with families in the region long using various giving vehicles, from corporate social responsibility initiatives to private and corporate foundations. There has also been a recent proliferation of family offices in regional hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong, many of which integrate philanthropy and charitable giving into their strategies.

But what motivates their giving under the family name and shapes their current philanthropic choices? Armed with these questions, the CAPS team conducted interviews with five prominent Asian families: the Chaudhary family, the Harilela family, the Li family, the Lo family, and the Tanoto family. CAPS are pleased to announce the release of this study—it’s not just about how these families engage in philanthropy but also how philanthropy can serve as an expression of a family’s philosophy.
